U.S. Coast Guard Fireman David Deaton tosses a life preserver into the water Nov. 14, 2016, at USCG Sector Charleston, South Carolina. The floatation device, equipped with a GPS, is being deployed during a man overboard training exercise to record the rescue time. The goal is to accomplish a successful rescue in less than two minutes.
