A High Mobility Engineer Excavator is loaded onto a C-5 on the Charleston AFB, S.C., flightline Sept. 29, 2008. The Air Force is helping transport the vehicles to forward deployed Soldiers and contractors in hostile environments. The HMEE is a newly developed military construction vehicle capable of a wide range of mobility affording more protection for the operator than conventional excavators.
