Lt. Col. Joseph Swaim, 560th Rapid Engineer Deployable, Heavy Operational Repair Squadron commander, along with other Joint Base Charleston – Air Base Airmen salute as Taps plays during a memorial ceremony in honor of Brig. Gen. Tom Meredith Feb. 27, 2013, at JB Charleston, S.C. Meredith founded the RED HORSE unit, and was the first commander of the active-duty RED HORSE unit when it was established to train RED HORSE Airmen for service in Vietnam in 1967.
