U.S. Air Force retired Lt. Gen. Brooks L. Bash (second from the left), Airman 1st Class Cassandra Macdonald, 628th Medical Group records technician (second from the right) and Lt. Col. Walter Bean, 628th Airbase Wing chaplain (right) cut the cake with a saber during the 2016 Air Force Ball Sept. 17, 2016 at the Charleston Convention Center here. It is tradition for the youngest and oldest Airmen to cut the cake together signifying respect and honor afforded to experience and seniority while symbolizing the newer generation of Airmen filling the ranks.
