JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. –
U.S. Air Force Gen. Mike Minihan, commander of Air Mobility Command, will award 36 Distinguished Flying Crosses to Joint Base Charleston mobility Airmen during a ceremony here Nov. 21 at 10 a.m.
The DFC recipients are being recognized for their actions during Operation Allies Refuge, the evacuation of Afghanistan in August 2021 and the largest non-combatant evacuation operation in American history.
The DFC is the highest award for heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in in aerial flight.
