CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. –
Staff Sgt. Sherri St. John is an avionics test station and aircraft component journeyman with the 315th Maintenance Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB for almost four years.
As an avionics test station and aircraft component journeyman, she is responsible for testing, inspecting and repairing 34 different avionic line replaceable units.
Sergeant St. John contributes to Team Charleston's mission by doing her part to help keep C17's flying, including weekend standby duty.
She was an active-duty Airman from 1981 to 1989 as an instrumentation mechanic. Sergeant St. John has been a part of the Air Force Reserves since Aug. 2003. She said she joined to serve her country during the Global War on Terrorism.
"I like my job because I find it interesting and challenging," said Sergeant St. John. "Also because I work with some very intelligent people and I'm always learning from them."
Some of her future goals include continuing to serve in the Air Force Reserves and to obtain a degree in aeronautical sciences.
"She is a great troop who is dedicated to her job and also brings a lot of enthusiasm to the flight," said Senior Master Sgt. Kenneth Battle, 315th Maintenance Squadron avionics flight superintendent. "She does her job great because of her diligence, performance, attention to detail and outstanding personality."
