7 Airmen receive Articles 15

CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Several members of Charleston AFB received the following non-judicial punishments under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice during June.

The maximum punishment under Article 15 depends on the rank of the member being offered, the Article 15 and the rank of the officer imposing punishment. If the commander finds a military member committed the charged offense, the commander can then determine the member's punishment based on the severity of the offense, the circumstances surrounding the offense, previous misconduct and any matters in mitigation or extenuation presented by the member.

A 17th Airlift Squadron captain received an Article 15 for adultery. The punishment consisted of forfeiture of $2,301 pay per month for two months (forfeiture in excess of $2,000 pay per month for two months suspended) and a reprimand.

A 17 AS senior airman received an Article 15 for aggravated assault. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman 1st class (suspended on the condition that he pay medical expenses), forfeiture of $150 pay per month for 2 months (suspended) and a reprimand.

A 437th Aerial Port Squadron senior airman received an Article 15 for making racially discriminatory comments about a fellow airman. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman 1st class (suspended), forfeiture of $200 pay per month for 2 months, 6 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A 437th Aeromedical Dental Operations Squadron airman 1st class received an Article 15 for bigamy. The punishment consisted of reduction to the grade of airman (reduction to airman basic suspended), forfeiture of $650 pay per month for two months (suspended) and a reprimand.

A 437th Civil Engineer Squadron airman received an Article 15 for accessing unauthorized websites on a government computer. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic (suspended), 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.

A 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron airman received an Article 15 for driving on base with suspended driving privileges. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic, forfeiture of $250 pay per month for two months (suspended) and 14 days extra duty.

A 437 AMXS senior airman received an Article 15 for wrongfully using marijuana. The punishment consisted of reduction to airman basic.
