Warrior of the Week: Staff Sgt. Joseph Roberson

By | 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron | July 25, 2007

CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Staff Sgt. Joseph Roberson is a fuels resource controller for the 437th Logistics Readiness Squadron Fuels Management Flight and has been stationed at Charleston for four-and-a-half years.

As a fuels resource controller, he plans, schedules, directs and controls all fuel operations in support of C-17 mission requirements.

This "warrior of the week" hails from Minneapolis and enlisted in the Air Force nearly five years ago. His three years prior service with the Navy from 1996 to 1999 enabled him to make a smooth transition to the Air Force. After Sept. 11 he said he wanted to do his part and be a member of a team that would protect this country from any future attack.

"There is tremendous satisfaction providing fuel on time and safely to our C-17s," said Sergeant Roberson. "The fuel I help provide is critical to every C-17 mission. It gives me a sense of personal pride and team spirit when the refueling operation is completed safely and on time."

Sergeant Roberson volunteers at a local off-base church and also participates in walks to benefit research for multiple sclerosis during the year. However, he always sees raising his family as a top priority.

"When something needs to be done I can always count on Sergeant Roberson to get it done right," said Tech. Sgt. Samuel Strong, 437 LRS fuels resource controller.
