Warrior of the Week: Airman 1st Class Scott McCourt

437th Communications Squadron

Airman 1st Class Scott McCourt is a network administrator for the 437th Communications Squadron and has been stationed at Charleston AFB since January 2007.

As a network administrator, he is responsible for troubleshooting network issues. He is also responsible for maintaining base personnel computer user accounts assisting customers with setting up their computer work stations.

"I thoroughly enjoy my job and working with people," said Airman McCourt. "It is very satisfying when I can assist customers to get them back online or help them gain access to their e-mail account. Also, the training I have received will assist me whether I decide to return to civilian life or make the Air Force a career. Resolving base network issues and e-mail accounts in a timely fashion permits Airmen to get back to doing their job, and that enables our C-17 aircraft to fly on time. We try very hard to do things right and as quickly as possible."

This "Warrior of the Week" hails from Cleveland, N.C., and enlisted in the Air Force three months after graduating from high school. His family has a history of military service and he said he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and have travel and education opportunities.

Airman McCourt is currently working on career development courses and hopes to take the End of Course exam to complete them soon. He is also a member of the Charleston AFB Honor Guard.

"I live on base and thoroughly enjoy the quality of life and base facilities available to me," he said. "I am also very happy that the newly renovated base theater is now open."

"Airman McCourt is a first class Airman who shows great potential for growth," said Staff Sgt. Jessica Fruth, 437 CS assistant NCO in charge of application services.
