Hurricane Tip of the Week

Hurricane season will continue through November, with the highest probability of a major hurricane occurring between mid-August and October. Due to a hurricane's capacity for damage, preparation is the key. Weekly hurricane tips provide need-to-know information for staying ahead of the weather.

This week's hurricane tip is:

Be aware that the calm "eye" of the storm is deceptive; the storm is not over. The worst part of the storm will happen once the eye passes over and the winds begin to blow from the opposite direction. Trees, shrubs, buildings, and other objects damaged by the first winds can be broken or destroyed by the second winds.
