NAVCON Brig Charleston receives new commanding officer

Naval Consolidated (NAVCON) Brig Charleston hosted a change of command ceremony June 28, 2019, Joint Base Charleston Naval Weapons Station, S.C. During the ceremony, U.S. Navy Cmdr. Jack Garcia relieved U.S. Navy Cmdr. Carl Brobst as commanding officer of NAVCON Brig Charleston. Garcia was previously the executive officer for NAVCON Brig Charleston. Brobst will be transferring to the Center for Surface Combat Systems Detachment, Mayport, Fla. NAVCON Brig Charleston’s mission is to ensure the security, good order and discipline, safety of adjudged and pretrial prisoners, and detain enemy combatants in accordance with guidance from the president through the secretary of defense. NAVCON Brig Charleston also aims to retrain and restore the maximum number of prisoners to honorable service and prepare members to be productive citizens outside of the military.
