Master Sgt. Amanda Lynch from Sheppard's 373rd Training Squadron Detachment 5, Joint Base Charleston, was named the Military Woman of the Year 2011 by the Palmetto Chapter of the Women in Defense national security organization. She competed against warrant officers, first sergeants and other Non-Commissioned Officers from all services. The WID presented the award at Joe Riley Stadium, Charleston, S.C., Sept. 1, 2011. 82nd Training Wing Commander Brig. Gen. Darryl Burke STEP promoted Lynch to master sergeant last year.
