Air Force District of Washington is staying ahead of the season - flu season. Joint Base Andrews, Md., and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C., Public Health and Immunization Clinics are working hand-in-hand to provide convenient vaccinations for our servicemembers.
Starting in October, AFDW "flu line" clinics will be set up on both installations for servicemembers, Tricare beneficiaries and qualified civilian and Department of Defense common access card holders.
"The flu lines are an easier way to help with the flow of the clinics," said Staff Sgt. Layoya Carr, 579th Medical Operations Squadron, JBAB.
Flu vaccinations are mandatory for all active-duty personnel, said Carr. However, the clinics will accommodate as many patients as possible.
Patients will receive the flu mist or shot, depending on what they are medically qualified to receive, said Carr.
Joint Base Andrew's Community Activity Center has a flu line open 7: 30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Oct. 4 - 5 for all active duty, DoD, civilian and contract employees.
Joint Base Andrews' base theater flu line opens 7 a.m. - noon Oct. 11 and noon - 5 p.m. Oct. 13 for all beneficiaries 12 years of age and older.
Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling's flu drive is 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Oct. 3 and 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Stewart Theater.
All flu vaccinations for active-duty personnel must be received by Jan. 1.
The vaccinations are also available at all family health, internal medicine, flight medicine and pediatric clinics on both bases. Patients may contact the clinics if they cannot make it to one of the walk-in flu clinics.
