JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. –
Chaplain (Maj.) Ronald Apollo, Chaplain (Maj.) Nealy Brown, and Tech. Sgt. Jennifer Castellanos, 315th Airlift Wing Chaplain's Office noncommissioned officer in charge, will prepare for and lead worship services at the 628th Air Base Wing Chapel on Joint Base Charleston March 25.
The event is a part of Contingency Sunday exercises, an annual requirement for Joint Base Charleston active duty staff. During contingencies, chaplains and chaplain assistants deploy and function as Religious Support Teams or RSTs. Contingency Sunday provides the Air Force Reserve teams an opportunity to plan, organize and carryout worship service to simulate operations during which active duty chapel staff is deployed or otherwise unavailable.
The 315 and 437 AW Chaplain Teams have worked collaboratively for many years, sharing real-world and exercise responsibilities including worship, counseling, weddings, funerals, death notifications deployment processing and training. Chaplains and chaplain assistants from the 315th Airlift Wing lead chapel services about once a quarter as part of the routine relationship between the two teams.
Chaplain Apollo will lead the 8 a.m. Gospel Service and Chaplain Brown will lead the 11 a.m. Traditional Service. Catholic Mass will be held at 10 a.m. and will be led by the Chapel's contract priest, Father Garcia. Members of the 315 AW who are interested in attending these services are encouraged to come out and support our team.
