The upkeep of 40 Joint Base Charleston C-17 Globemasters takes a highly trained team of maintenance professionals to identify and repair problems. This responsibility falls under the 437th Maintenance Flight. The flight has four different work centers which make up home station check and consists of crew chiefs, jet engine mechanics, repair and reclamation and wheel and tire team members

Jimmy Scardo, 315th, Maintenance Flight look at technical order for a nacelles access pylon panel Nov. 20, 2019, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. The panel is used to protect the engine and make the C-17 more aerodynamic. Every 180 days, Home Station Check team members complete 750 inspections on critical items and performs airframe and flight control lubrications. On average the HSC process takes 96 hours per aircraft. Hrizo, Milos and Scardo are crew chiefs for their flights.
