The purpose of the exercise is to test the response of base assistance teams should the U.S. receive an international challenge inspection under the Chemical Weapons Convention Treaty. The Chemical Weapons Convention aims to eliminate an entire category of weapons of mass destruction by prohibiting the development, production, acquisition, stockpiling, retention, transfer or use of chemical weapons by State Parties.
