JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. —   Cheryl Clark, General Manager at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Hotels, North Charleston, has been selected as a member of the Air Mobility Command Civic Leader Program. The AMC Civic Leader Program is a Major Command-level program comprised of several respected community leaders selected from across AMC base communities nominated by officials from AMC installations. These unpaid advisors provide feedback from their communities and invaluable insight on local public opinion on Air Force issues to the AMC Commander and work towards increasing understanding and cooperation between the civilian community and the Air Force. AMC civic leaders serve as a civilian interface between AMC and the civilian community. In this role, they explain and interpret AMC and Air Force programs, positions and issues to other key, local communicators through personal contact and correspondence, and to the general public through statements, appearances and speeches. Clark is a founding member and events chair for the Palmetto Military Support Group. She served as the Chairman for the Military Relations Committee at the Charleston Chamber of Commerce from 2007-2009 and has served as an Honorary Commander at JB Charleston from 2007-2015. As General Manager, Clark oversees day-to-day operations as the General Manager of a 98-room Holiday Inn Express and also serves as the Director of Operations for a sister hotel, an 86-room Holiday Inn Express. She has served as the General Manager since 1999 and was named General Manager of the year for all Holiday Inn Express Hotels in North and South America in 2010.  "Ms. Clark’s selection to Air Mobility Command’s civic leader program is outstanding and represents her dedication to Joint Base Charleston and the Air Force," said Col. Rob Lyman, Joint Base Charleston commander. "She has been a longtime supporter of Joint Base Charleston and she is very knowledgeable about the Air Force and Department of Defense missions." ###
