JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. - Air Force Col. Terrence Adams, Joint Base Charleston commander, and other base leaders salute Army Gen. Stephen Lyons, commander of U.S. Transportation Command, as his plane arrives Dec. 6, 2018, at Joint Base Charleston, S.C. Lyons visited JB Charleston as part of an effort to familiarize himself with the base’s global mobility capabilities. USTRANSCOM is a unified, functional combatant command that provides support to the nine other U.S. combatant commands, the military services, defense agencies and other government organizations. As commander, Lyons is responsible for delivering globally-integrated mobility, deployment and distribution solutions and enabling capabilities for full-spectrum requirements in support of national objectives. JB Charleston hosts service members and civilians from all branches who support USTRANSCOM’s global missions through air, land and sea.
