Det 5: Training Airmen from simulation to mobilization

Detachment 5 utilizes a 44,000 square foot maintenance training facility to safely and effectively train Mobility Airmen throughout the Air Force on maintenance and repair procedures. The instructor team provides over 20,000 hours of instruction per year to new and seasoned avionic maintainers of the U.S. and partnered militaries who also utilize similar airframes. The Airmen are trained on innovative simulators in a safety oriented environment to maximize their effectiveness on the flightline. The C-17 Maintenance Trainer Development Team is comprised of training instructors from multiple Air Force Specialty Codes who fill the role as subject matter experts for the development of maintenance Airmen.
